Little Red Wagon?

To understand the importance of the little red wagon you have to take a little ride…a ride down Bob’s memory lane. When Chef Bob, one half of the FnG Eats Chef team, was young, his parents would take him to his grandma’s house AND her huge garden. Each and everyday Bob would take out his little red wagon to the garden to pick the ripe vegetables and fruits that would become that night’s dinner.

So when Bob found himself walking at the Keller’s Farmers Market for food inspiration and goods for FnG Eats, it only made sense that a little red wagon just like he used to have at grandma’s, would also accompany him. On Saturdays you can find Bob, the Radio Flyer and members of the FnG family tasting the produce, checking out new food products and planning out the dishes you will find at FnG Eats that week. From the garden, to the market, to FnG Eats and then to your plate…all with the help of the little red wagon.

Using fresh food offerings from Keller Farmers Market and other local purveyors, the FnG menu brings together the perfect blend of creativity, inspiration and skill to create exciting dishes based on homestyle favorites as well as new innovative offerings. Everything from its small plates, entrees, desserts and even its cutting-edge cocktail menu are developed to be a ride on the taste of flavors coaster.  And best of all, every dish is served with a big helping of hometown hospitality.

Nicknamed by longtime restaurant promoter and Savor Dallas Founder Jim White as a “true Renaissance Man,” Bob is a man of many interests and experiences. A Texas‐born and raised chef, “Whoopeecat” (as he is sometimes called) is an accomplished performance poet who has entertained around the US and Canada, zen motorcyclist, supporter of local nonprofit organizations and now the owner/chef of FnG Eats with chef partner Carlos Arevalo.  Honing his skills for more than 35 years in the restaurant business, Bob has worked for some of the most reputable restaurants in DFW. His humble beginnings started at 13 years old as a short order cook in his parents’ bowling alley coffee shop in Irving, Texas. He was one of the first corporate kitchen trainers for Chili’s opening restaurants all over the U.S. in the mid-80s; worked for Houston’s Restaurants in Dallas, Kansas City and Atlanta; and Patrizio’s Italian restaurant in Highland Park Village for Jack Knox in the mid-90s before coming to Las Colinas for his 15‐year long tenure at Cool River Café.

Bob is a man of many talents and enjoys sharing his knowledge with others. When he’s not working he’s enjoying life with his lovely wife, Julie.

Carlos Arevalo is a native El Salvadoran who immigrated to the U.S. in 1984 to serve up a sweeter life for his family. Now 28 years later, he continues to serve up tasty treats for all of DFW. He began his career in the restaurant business as a dishwasher at Number 1 Pearl Street Oyster Bar in Dallas. He worked his way through the kitchen before taking a position with Macaroni Grill in North Dallas. Razoo’s was the next stop for Carlos, and as he worked his first management position, he became a U.S. citizen. Then in 1998, Carlos joined Cool River Cafe in Las Colinas as sous chef and working alongside Chef Bob Stephenson for more than 12 years until embarking on FnG Eats in their hometown of Keller, Texas.

When Carlos isn’t creating deliciousness in the kitchen, you’ll find him being the devoted husband to his wife, Adella, supporting his son, Owen’s soccer team, or attending choir recitals to hear the beautiful voice of his daughter, Amy.

Community

Chefs Bob and Carlos are vested in shining the spotlight on the dining scene in Keller and the surrounding Tarrant County. It’s not just where they work, it’s where they live, too, so they really do have heart in everything they do.

Dining isn’t the only thing on the menu at FnG Eats.
